CHAN 2020 : Uganda seeded in pot 3 ahead of draw ceremony

The draw ceremony of the 2020 CAF African Championship (CHAN) will be held on Monday evening in Yaounde, Cameroon where 16 nations will know who their opponents will be.

The Uganda Cranes have been pitted in pot 3 alongside Congo Brazzaville, Namibia and Burkina Faso.

Uganda will be represented by the Fufa Deputy CEO in charge of football, Decolaz Kiiza who is currently in Cameroon.

This will be the fifth time Uganda is taking part in the final CHAN tournament having appeared in the 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2018 editions.

Pot 1 of the draws consists of holders Morocco, hosts Cameroon and former winners Libya who replaced Tunisia two weeks ago.

The tournament will be held between 4th – 25th April in three cities – Yaounde, Doula and Limbe.

The CAF African Championship is a tournament played between 16 qualifed nations from all regions of Africa but it’s exclusive to local based players only.

Morocco are the defending champions having won the previous edition on home soil while DR Congo and Libya are other former winners who will be in Cameroon come April.

Pot 1 : Cameroon, Morocco, Libya & Zambia

Pot 2 : DR Congo, Guinea, Mali & Rwanda

Pot 3 : Uganda, Congo Brazzaville, Namibia, Burkina Faso

Pot 4 : Zimbabwe, Niger, Togo & Tanzania
