The locally based Cranes will play South Sudan in the first round of the qualifiers for the 6th edition of Total African Nations Championships (CHAN) to take place in Ethiopia in 2020.
The draws which were held in 9th October City in Cairo at the CAF Headquarters pitted Uganda for the 2nd consecutive time. The Cranes eliminated South Sudan before drawing Rwanda enroute to CHAN 2018 qualification.
The two-legged encounter will see the winner between Uganda and South Sudan face off with the winner between Rwanda and Somalia in the next round to determine the team which will qualify for the finals in AddisAbaba-Ethiopia in 2020.
CHAN tournament is a competition for locally based players and will be played for the 6th consecutive time in 2020.
In the other first round games, Kenya will face off with Burundi while Tanzania will play against Sudan.
For the 5th times this competition has been organised so far, the Democratic Republic of Congo are the record champions having won it twice while Morocco who hosted and won the previous tournament are the defending champions.
