Uganda cranes played to a 1-1 stalemate with Guinea in a friendly match that was played at the FUS Stade Molay El hassan Stadium, Rabat in Morocco.
Sebastien Desabre who was in charge of the national side for the first time since his appointment gave his assessment on the performance of his team. He said,
“We had a good first half which saw us create two golden chances but only failing to score. Then in the second half in the first 15-20 minutes the boys couldn’t match the physicality and pressure from the Guinea thus we conceded a goal.”
“We later changed tactically our system of play and this paid off when substitute Nelson Ssenkatuka scored the equalizer.”
Desabre was also impressed with the tactical and technical organization of the team,
“I am surprised with how my team is tactically and technically organised and this helped us against a good Guinea side that was more athletic than us. I liked the way the boys were defensively organised in the first half and in the second period the game was open and we created more chances.”
The Cranes main man was grateful with the mentality and character of his team and says it’s now more easy for him to name his starting line up. He says,
“The score is important for us but personally it’s the first time for me to see the superiority of the team and i am pleased with the mentality and character of the team. It’s also a good assessment for me and now it’s more easy for me to choose the line up.”
The cranes will next play Congo on Tuesday 9th in another friendly match as they prepare for this year’s CHAN tournament due to start on 12th in Morocco.
