South Sudan 1-0 Zanzibar

South Sudan needed a late winning goal from Luka Alworonga Debora to register an important 1-0 win over Zanzibar in the second Group B game.

Following a barren large spell, hell broke lose when Alworonga went clear at goal to squeeze the ball past goalkeeper Zuwena Yassin and into the net in the 80th minute.

Moments later, the lanky striker had another opportunity to double the lead in the similar style but failed to hit the ball past the keeper.

They also had an opportunity through Chieng Thomas Manyol whose powerful shot hit the cross bar before the deadlock was broken

South Sudan dominated the proceedings of the second half but struggled to hit target. They generally had decent goal attempts compared to their fellow strugglers Zanzibar.

The result means South Sudan have a slight chance of getting to the semi final if they defy odds and beat Ethiopia in their final game on Monday.

Zanzibar will face Tanzania who will be aiming for a win of a big margin so as to finish top of the group.
