The Uganda U17 (Cubs) will be aiming for a place in the CECAFA U17 AFCON qualifier final when they lock horns with hosts Tanzania in the semifinals.
The Cubs come in this contest after walloping Djibouti 8-0 in the final game of group B. Uganda’s only defeat in the tournament was the 1-0 loss to Ethiopia in their opening fixture.

The Cubs will hope that hat trick hero against Djibouti Najib Yiga emulates the same display to guide them to the promised land. Thomas Kakaire, Idd Abdulwahid and Davis Ssekajja are also expected to light up Peter Onen’s youngsters.
The hosts on the other hand will heavily rely on striker Kelvin John to rise up the Tanzanian flag.
Rwanda and Ethiopia will also face off in the other semifinal for a place in Sunday’s final. The winner in the final match will automatically qualify for 2019 AFCON finals slated for May from 12th to 26th of the same month.
Tanzania being the hosts of the final AFCON tournament means they will also represent the East African region. The top three teams at the 2019 AFCON U-17 tournament will qualify for FIFA U-17 showpiece in Peru next year.
