CECAFA U-20: Uganda held by Eritrea in group A opener

Hosts Uganda were held by Eritrea in a one all stalemate during their CECAFA U20 championship group stage opener at Pece stadium.

Proline FC’s Ivan Bogere put Uganda in the lead in the 37th minute with a simple tap following a spill over from goalkeeper Haile Kibrom.

Yoseif Tesfai Maweal levelled matters for Eritrea in the 57th minute.

Uganda’s Hassan Ssenyonjo had scoring opportunities that could have sealed victory for Uganda but he put them to waste.

In another group A game, Sudan edged Djibouti 4-0 to go to of the log.

Both sides will be back in action on Monday 23rd September where Uganda will be playing Djibouti at 4:00pm Pece War Memorial Stadium.

Eritrea and Sudan will face off in the early kick off at 1:30pm
