Kenya thumped Zanzibar 5-0 in a Group B game played on Sunday at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

Kariobangi Sharks striker Sydney Lokale scored four of the five goals while Zanzibar had their captain Mustapha Muhsin sent off in the second half.

Lokale scored the first goal from a rebound after his penalty kick was saved by the Zanzibar goalkeeper in the 30th minute.

He later doubled the lead eight minutes later before completing his hat trick from the penalty mark in the 70th minute.

Muhsin was sent off for bringing down Lokale inside the forbidden area hence the second penalty of the game.

Lokale then scored his fourth goal before Austin Otieno Odhiambo made it 5-0 in the 83rd minute.

Kenya will play against Tanzania on Tuesday in their second group game.

Zanzibar will face Ethiopia who lost 4-0 to Tanzania.
