CECAFA suspends Harambee Stars head coach for misconduct

The Harambe Stars head coach Francis Kimanzi has been suspended from the dug out for two consecutive matches in the ongoing CECAFA senior challenge cup.

Kimanzi has also been ordered by the Organising committee of the CECAFA Senior challenge cup 2019 not to appear anywhere at the stadium while serving the punishment.

It is believed that Kimanzi and his technical team had ordered his side not to honour their fixture against Taifa Stars of Tanzania on Sunday 8th December at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

They accused three of the Tanzania players not to have valid passports which led to delay in kick off, broke the door during the protects and chased the fourth official Mohammed Guedi from the dressing room.

This was confirmed by a document signed by the CECAFA general Secretary Nicholas Musonye,

” Mr. Francis Kimanzi the team head coach is suspended from the team technical bench for two consecutive matches of this tournament and should not appear anywhere in the stadium while serving the punishment.”

” The assistant coach Mr. Zedekiah Otieno is here by heavily reprimanded for his unprofessional behavior.”

Kenya techinical team has therefore been requested to submit in those members they expect to be on the technical bench.

” You are required to submit to the Organising committee the list of five officials sitting on your technical bench before your next game.”

Kenya won the game 1-0 thanks to Hassan Abdallah’s fourth minute goal.

Kimanzi will miss the encounters against Sudan and Zanzibar on Tuesday and Saturday respectively.
