The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has named Auka Gecheo as their new Executive Director.
Gecheo is a former Kenyan rugby player and replaces the long serving Nicholas Musonye who has served as the CECAFA General Secretary since 2001.
The post of Executive Director was introduced to replace the one of General Secretary during the assembly held in Uganda last year.
It is reported that Musonye will be heading for politics specifically for the Kakamega County Governor seat in 2022.
Gecheo was on Wednesday 11th March in Dar es Salaam by the CECAFA President Wallace Karia on an event graced by outgoing Musonye.
He has previously worked as the General manager of the Kenya Rugby Union and pay TV Giants Super Sport and also doubles as the chairman Nonderscripts rugby club.
