KCCA FC and Azam will renew their CECAFA rivalry this evening in Dar es Salaam .
The Two regional Giants last met in the same Tournament in Kigali Two years ago.
They were in the same Group (Group A) and the Ugandans won the Group contest with a slim 1-0 margin courtesy of a Sadat Anaku slot-in.
Interestingly, they once again met in the final and KCCA still won with the same margin courtesy of a Mustafah Kizza goal.
However, a lot has changed since, Mustafa Kizza and the manager Mike Mutebi have since left the club.
Sadat Anaku did not make to the travelling squad due to illness.
For the Tanzanians, they have an inclusion of a couple of Ugandan players in defender Nicholas Wadada and goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya.
KCCA have also lately boosted their squad with an inclusion of 5 new signings, four of whom are in line to play this game having traveled with the team.
Yassar Mugerwa, Brian Kayanja, Emmanuel Alex Wasswa and returnee Brian Mwajwega.
KCCA FC manager Morley Byekwaso is aware of the task ahead of him but very optimistic of a win.
“I know it’s not going to be an easy game but we are going to do our best to see that we win our first game.”,
He said during the pre-match presser
“Azam is not an easy team and am sure they will come all out for the three points but we also want to win and try to go deep in the tournament”, Byekwaso stressed.
