Seven minutes later, Edson Mshirakandi level the scores for the hosts. Uganda responded positively with several attacks but their finishing let them down. At the break the scorers were level.

On resumption, the Peter Onen coached side continued knocking on the door with Tanzania on the receiving end.

With the clock ticking, Alou John Kokas restored Uganda’s lead in the 77th minute to send the Ugandan fans in jumping up and down.

The Cubs sealed the victory in added time when they caught the Tanzanians on the counter led by Idd Abdulwahid who picked Alou on the right before defender Amiri Njiri scored in his own net.

Peter Onen’s youngsters will face Ethiopia in Sunday’s final who knockout Rwanda 4-2 on spot kicks after a 2-2 all draw. Both sides faced off in the opening game of group B with Ethiopia edging Uganda 1-0.
