CAF confirms dates for Crested Cranes double header against Ethiopia

The Crested Cranes will for the first time take part in the Olympic qualifiers when they take on CECAFA neighbours Ethiopia in the preliminary stage.

The first leg will be played on 3rd April at the National stadium in Addis Ababa before the return leg slated for 6th April at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

This will be the first time the Crested Cranes play on the international stage since winning bronze in the COSAFA Women’s Cup in South Africa last September.

It has also been confirmed that match officials from Egypt will oversee the first leg.

Saad Ali Shahend the center referee, Hassan Handy and Ahmed Shibl as the first and second assistants respectively.

Rwandan center referee Alice Umutoni and her compatriots Sandrine Murangwa and Alice Umutesi will be in charge of the return leg.

The last time Uganda played against Ethiopia was in the 2018 CECAFA Women’s Championship in Rwanda where goals from defenders Grace Aluka and Yudaya Nakayenze completed a 2-1 comeback for the Crested Cranes.

The aggregate winner over the two legs will face Cameroon who received a bye.
