CAF confirms adjustments in Beach soccer fixture following DR Congo’s withdrawal

Following the withdrawal of DR.Congo from the forthcoming AFCON Beach Soccer finals in Senegal, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has made adjustments in Group A fixtures.

Hosts Senegal who were to lock horns with DR.Congo on Sunday, 23rd May will now face the Sand Cranes on the same day.

On Monday 24th May, Uganda will entertain East African Neighbours Tanzania in their final group A game.

The last game in the group will be between Senegal and Tanzania on Wednesday 26th May, 2021.

Uganda are taking part in the competition for the first time in history. They progressed to the showpiece after the withdrawal of West Africans Ghana in the qualifiers.

Tanzania on the other hand will be making their second appearance in the finals while Senegal are the reigning champions.

The 2021 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations will be the fourth edition of the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations are will be held from 23rd- 29th May in Senegal.

The event also acts as the qualification route for African teams to the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia; the winners and runners-up qualify.

Meanwhile, the Uganda National Beach Soccer Team (The Sand Cranes) arrived safely at Aeroport International Blaise Diagne in Dakar city, Senegal aboard Ethiopian Airlines and are currently accommodated at Royam Hotel -Dakar.
