CAF CL: Zamalek beat Raja to set dream final with rivals Al Ahly

Zamalek SC beat newly crowned Moroccan champions Raja Casablanca 3-1 (4-1 on aggregate) in the second leg semi final of the CAF Champions League played on Wednesday night in Cairo.

The Egyptian giants came in the second leg with a 1-0 aggregate lead courtesy of Achraf Bencharki goal in the first leg.

Raja Casablanca came into the encounter without their inspirational first choice goalkeeper Anas Zniti who was among the three players who tested positive for COVID-19.

Congolese Ben Malango Ngita gave Raja Casablanca a deserved lead in the 47th minute but Ferjani Sassi equalized for Zamalek 13 minutes later.

The game was tied at 1-1 until the 85th minute when striker Mustafa Mohammed scored a late brace to ensure a comfortable win for Zamalek.

Zamalek will now face their Cairo Derby rivals Al Ahly who already beat Wydad Casablanca 5-1 on aggregate in the first semi final.

This will be the first time two Egyptian teams are in the CAF Champions League which is slated for 27th November at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

Zamalek will be featuring in the first CAF Champions League final since losing to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016.

It should be noted that Zamalek SC are the only team that beat Al Ahly during the concluded Egyptian Premier League.
