CAF appoint third Secretary General in less than a year

Confederation of African Football – CAF has appointed Moroccan Abdelmounaim Bah to replace his compatriot Mouad Hajji who resigned one day ago.

“At the request of the president, the Emergency committee has proceeded today with an unanimous appointment of Bah to the post of General Secretary of the organisation after accepting the resignation of Mouad Hajji, who stepped down from the position yesterday”. Reads part of the statement released by CAF media.

Mouad who offered no reason for his resignation is believed to have done so for personal reasons and will be leaving Egypt, the administrative centre for African football for his homeland soon.

Mouad had replaced former General Secretary, Egyptian Amr Fahmy (RIP) who was fired under unclear circumstances in April last year.

On Tuesday, members of the CAF emergency committee unanimously appointed Abdelmounaim Bah as the continental football governing body’s secretary General in acting capacity.

Bah also doubles as the CAF commercial Director and it has been confirmed that he will serve in both capacities till the next CAF Executive meeting.
