BUL 1-0 Express: Late Pierre Kambale strike hands Ssemwongere tough start

BUL FC have consolidated fourth place on the Uganda premier league table after edging Express FC by 1-0 at the Njeru technical center.

In what was George Ssemwogerere’s first game as head coach following Kisala’s exit, the Red Eagles looked destined for at least a point.

Pierre Muhindo Kambale scored in the 91st minute to hand BUL of an impressive season.

Peter Onen’s side were done a big disservice when defender Abdul Mayanja got substituted by January recruit Jimmy Kulaba in the early stages.

Moments later, the in form Deogracious Ojok came close to putting the hosts in the lead but goal keeper Mathias Muwanga reacted swiftly to block it.

Joel Male also had a brilliant opportunity to put Express in the lead but Hannington Sebwalunyo stood up for the challenge in the 24th minute.

Four bookings were splashed out on the evening with BUL taking the lion’s share, Yunus Sibira, William Otong and Hannington Sebwalunyo all got carded.

Defeat keeps Express within touching distance of the relegation lot, they remain 10th on 21 points, only 3 above SC Villa.

BUL are 4th on 30 points, only 11 points adrift of leaders KCCA FC.
