The Buganda regional league play offs final will have Kajjansi United and Busula Sports Club face off despite losing in the semi finals played on Friday 17th May in Kasana, Luweero.
The dramatic turn of events follows the FUFA competitions committee nulfying the semi final results which later saw the would be final not being played on Sunday 19th May.
It is however understood that the Buganda regional league officials are at blame for not complying with the competitions’ rules.
Initially by competitions’ rules, Kajjansi United and Busula Sports Club were supposed to play in the play off final as respective winners of Katonga and Sezibwa groups.
The Buganda regional league contradicted with the competition’s guidelines and included Nkambi Coffee and Free Stars as group runners up to set up semi final pairings like it was the case in the previous seasons.
The semi finals played on Friday saw Free Stars edge Kajjansi United 5-4 on penalties while Nkambi Coffee emerged 3-2 victors in the similar style.
The final slated for Sunday 19th May was called off while Kajjansi United and Busula Sports Club were “reinstated” to play in the single legged final on Wednesday 22nd May at the same venue.
The eventual winner between Kajjansi United and Busula Sports Club will play against Kampala region’s champions Katwe United in a battle for a coveted berth in the 2019-20 FUFA Big League.
