Amidst fears, reports and accusations that the FUFA Drum was designed to rival the Buganda Masaza cup, FUFA president Moses Magogo met the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga with an objective of explaining to him about the advantages of the competition and it’s importance to Ugandan football development.

The Katikkiro expressed his fears to Magogo concerning the timing, fixtures and availability of players for both competitions. He said,

“Initially we had a fear that the Drum would rival Masaza but Magogo has explained to me well,  it will not intervene Masaza,  but it will also continue to look for new talent, and the most important thing those who will be playing in the Drum play in the premier league and big league and Masaza players lay in the lower divisions.”

” The only concern is about the fixtures and time, we hope the two tournaments won’t clash in time of play because some of the young players may be eligible for both the Drum and Masaza ”
