Onduparaka 1-3 Soltilo Bright Stars
Soltilo Bright Stars have successfully beaten the drop after defeating Onduparaka 3-1 at the Greenlight Stadium in Arua.
Bright Stars came into the encounter with nothing to settle for but victory while hoping Police fail to win against BUL FC at Lugogo so as to survive relegation.
Yasin Mugume, Ibrahim Kasinde and substitute Nelson Senkatuka scored the three goals for the Paul Kiwanuka coached team.
Onduparaka had to negotiate the game without their influential marksman Shaban Muhammad while Michael Kagiri started in goal ahead of a recovering Mathias Muwanga.
Bright Stars had a couple of attempts at goal and hit the woodwork through youngster Issa Bugembe in the 12th minute while Emmanuel Loki and Mugume came close.
Onduparaka also hit the cross bar through James Jarieko in the 38th minute.
Following a barren first half, Norman Ogik broke the deadlock in the first minute of the second half.
However, Onduparaka’s lead short-lived for a minute as Mugume levelled matters following a nice spadework from Loki.
Two minutes later, Loki set up Kasinde who perfectly headed home to give Bright Stars a deserving lead.
Senkatuka who replaced Janjali in the 70th minute, then put the icing on the cake with an easy tap-in in the 90th minute to seal the safety mission.
The win took Bright Stars to 33 points in the 12th place, five clear of 14 placed Police who lost 5-2 to BUL FC.
Onduparaka remained 10th on 34 points and will visit UPDF in the final game on Saturday 21st May at Bombo.
Bright Stars will host Mbarara City in a dead rubber on the same day.
