Soltilo Bright Stars came from a goal down to defeat Express 2-1 in a UPL encounter played at Kavumba.
Express came into the fixture on the back of two successive draws against SC Villa and Mbarara and needed nothing but victory to keep their title hopes alive.
The Wasswa Bbosa coached side had to negotiate the tie without Martin Kizza who didn’t make the match day squad after limping off in the previous game.
Ibrahim Kayiwa gave Express the lead in the 42nd minute after heading home perfectly from a Lumu Isa delivery.
Mathias Muwanga was called into action to save Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo’s penalty kick at the stroke of half-time following a handball in Express’ box.
The second period saw the home side turn things around to win all three points through Ssekamatte and substitute Emmanuel Loki.
Ssekamatte made amends for his early penalty miss when he finally tied the game at 1-1 with his 9th goal of the season.
Loki, who had earlier on replaced Methodius Jjungu, gave Baker Mbowa’s coached side the lead in the 87th minute with a header from Simon Ssemayange’s delivery and ultimately won it.
The result made it four wins in the last four for Soltilo Bright Stars who are now 6th in the table with 29 points.
Express are now winless in the last three games and have seemingly lost ground on the title chase. They are third with 37 points and will be visiting table leaders Vipers in their next game on Friday 23rd.
Soltilo Bright Stars will host URA FC on Saturday 24th April.
