BOXING : Six boxers flourish in Bombers’ trials.

Ugandan boxing fans spent a cold sunday evening at Lugogo Arena witnessing a number of boxers from over 8 boxing gyms contesting for a place at the national team that will compete in the coming Bingwa wa ma Bingwa competition to be hosted in Tanzania which will serve as the Commonwealth games’ qualifying route.

The Uganda Boxing Federation ( UBF) president Muhangi Moses graced the the evening with a brief speech through which he appreciated the turn up, the boxers and media houses as well as introducing a number of notable boxing figures like, Sseruyange Zebra, Nyakana Godfrey, Kikenwa Abu and others.

Opening up the action were Maliyamungu Frank and Kawooya Ali who both won their curtain raising bouts against Katamba Bob and Iga Allan respectively.

Kiiza Joshua then opened up the fights of the evening against Mutebi Umar in a light flyweight contention which Kiiza won by unanimous decision after 3 rounds.

Miiro Juma defeated Kabuuka Moses in a flyweight contest in a toe to toe fight that was settled by a split decision in favour of Miiro while Nasir Bashir defeated Ssali Marvin after 3 rounds by unanimous decision in a bantamweight duel.

In lightweight and light welterweight divisions, Nyanzi Joshua and Muwonge Latib secured their places after defeating Bob Moses Asiya and Mukiibi Tony respectively.

Shadir Musa took on Semujju David in the last bout in which Ssemuju looked nervous giving alot of confindence to Musa who almost knocked him down in round 1. However, Ssemuju proved fresh in the next rounds knocking down Musa once but losing the fightes on points by unanimous decision.

In the heavyweight division, Geko Solomon got an automatic place after his opponent Kiwanuka Shafik failed to show up.
