The Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi has confirmed the program for the schools Boxing Championship which will take place at MTN Arena, Lugogo and will attract fighters from the age of 12 to 18years.
Medical check ups and weighing in will be conducted on March 23rd, then from 25th to 28th March real Boxing action will start. The semifinals will take place on 30th and then the finals are slated for Sunday March 31st at MTN Arena, Lugogo.
Muhangi believes the competition will help in nurturing new Boxing talents and called upon all Ugandans to come and give support to the young boys and girls.
“We are well prepared for the Schools Boxing Championship which will officially start on 23rd March with the Weighing in and medical check ups. We carryout these checks ups to know the HIV status of Boxers and their general health.”
“This is a competition that gives the young boxers a platform to showcase their talent. It also helps us to identify the new Boxing talents and I do call upon fellow Ugandans to come and give support to the young boys and girls.”
Bweyogerere High have won the previous two editions of the Schools Championship. It is estimated that over 50 schools which include the likes of Kololo High School, Kampala High, Dynamic SS and Buloba High are expected to take part in this year’s event.
