Bombers reduced to 2 as AIBA Boxing Championships kick off

Just when you thought the Bombers were fewer in number, it can only get worse than one representative already sent home before the competition.
Thursday-24th-2017, last evening, the opening ceremony took place at Hamburg’s Town Hall.

“We are delighted to be here in Hamburg
for what will be an unforgettable edition
of the AIBA World Championships. With
the completion of today’s Draw, the 75
teams and their boxers can now begin
their final preparations for the start of
competition.

have all been building towards for many
months and I am proud that we have put
in place a tournament that will shine the
light on these boxers more brightly than
ever before, helping to establish new
heroes in our sport,” said AIBA President
Dr Ching-Kuo Wu.

Soon after the opening ceremony, Uganda’s David Ayiti got sent home, the super Heavyweight boxer who won a silver in Congo Brazzaville was thrown out with a statesmen form the AIBA federation that his medical documents were not sent to Germany on time.

This has left Uganda with only 2 representatives in Kaketo Geofrey and Muzamir Kakande.

The draws were made immediately after the opening ceremony. Uganda’s Geofrey Kakeeto of bantam weight will face Nicaragua’s Jarquin later on today while team captain, Muzamir Kakande will face America ‘s Randall on Saturday.
