The Uganda Bombers head coach Patrick Lihanda has tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival to Japan.
Lihanda was among the nine member delegation that travelled to Japan for the deadly Olympic games in Japan.
On Sunday morning the Uganda Olympic Committee President Donald Rukare confirmed the development
“We have received notification that upon arrival one member of the team delegation of nine tested COVID-19 positive. The delegation has been fully vaccinated and underwent the mandatory two COVID -19 tests before departure. All were negative. The rest of team members ( eight) have arrived in Izumisano city Osaka. We are liaising with the team and the Embassy of Uganda officials in Tokyo. The safety and health of our team remains our paramount priority.”
The Bombers head coach will now be staying at the Japanese government designated facility.
Coach Meddie Mulandi will be in charge of the three boxers at the global games which are slated to begin on 23rd July.
