Bombers coach Lihanda highlights key aspects they will miss in Bingwa Wa Mabingwa

The Uganda Boxing National team (Bombers) head coach Patrick Lihanda says that his charges will miss a lot by not taking part in this year’s Bingwa Wa Mabingwa championship.

The Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi earlier this week confirmed that they have pulled out of the competition due to lack of funds.

“We are the defending champions and its hurts that we are not going to defend our crown. This championship was to help our boxers prepare for the Olympic qualifiers as well as giving exposure and competition to them.

“Its absurd that we are not taking part this due to lack of funds to facilitate the team.” Stated Lihanda the Bombers head coach

Countries from the East and Central Africa participate in the championship and this year it is scheduled to start on December 5 to 10th in Tanzania. Zambia, Cameroon and Mozambique are some of the guest nations expected to take part.

Uganda was expected to send a team of 13 boxers to defend their crown. The Bombers won seven medals during the 2018 edition.
