The semi finals of the Bika football tournament have kicked off with Nte hosting Lugave in the first leg at Wankulukuku stadium with both teams playing to a 1-1 draw in a one sided affair.
Striker Peter Lwasa put Nte ahead through a penalty conversion in the 15th minute of the game following foul play by Mutyaba Charles Collins in the forbidden area.
Nte failed to capitalise on the many goal scoring opportunities they created. Despite Nte clan dominating the game they failed to defend their goal advantage and in the 75th minute Lugave was blessed with a corner which landed on Ssemwogerere Braise’s foot who acrobatically converted.
The two teams will face off in the second leg on Friday 8th September 2017 4pm at Wankulukuku and the aggregate winner over the two legs will book a berth in the final.
Lugave missed the services of Karim Ndugwa of Onduparaka, Brian Nkuubi of Vipers and Mutyaba Muzamir who is currently with National team.
George Ssemwogerere of Lugave
“I thank our players for the performance because, we were not given sufficient time to rest. We had played on Monday and had our last training session yesterday unlike our opponents. It’s pleasing we played well despite making a mistake in the build up of the goal we conceded. We are aiming for a win in the return leg.”
Kasana Deogracious the Nte coach
“We handle every game according to the current situation. We have tried our best but next time we are going for a win. Its unfortunate we got an injury in our defence and that was the turning point of the game.”
Nte are the defending champions and they will be hoping to retain the championship this year. The tournament will climax on 25th November 2017 at Bukalasa in Luweero district.
