Ffumbe has managed to defeat Mpindi 2-1 in the first leg of the Bika football tournament held at Wankulukuku stadium.
In the 15th minute of the game, Ffumbe striker Kigozi Andrew was brought down on the edge eighteen yards box and Lubwama Joshua converted the resultant free kick giving Ffumbe the lead.
Ffumbe Skipper Kasolo Mustapha broke through the Mpindi defence to double the scoreline with a sublime finish in the 70th minute.
Five minutes later Ndugga Lawrence handled the ball in his own box to grant Mpindi a penalty which was well taken by Majwega Brian.
Ten minutes to the end of the game saw Ffumbe defender Ntege Kamada see red following a bad tackle on Kaziba Henry.
Reactions from the coaches,
Kaziba Edward of Mpindi
“Ffumbe has been better than us today but we haven’t lost hope, Our midfield wasn’t good enough but we have identified our mistakes so we are to correct them and come back stronger and better for a win. “
Kaweesa Edward of Ffumbe
“I am grateful for the win which came as a result of team work. Our skipper getting injured affected us but its all left to the team doctors. I expect him to get fit for the return leg. About the red card it was the referee’s decision but it won’t affect us because we have good replacements and since we managed to win away, a draw will be enough to see us through.”
