Big league rivals Kyetume and Wakiso Giants battle for semi final spot

FUFA Big League sides Kyetume FC and Wakiso Giants will lock horns at Nakisunga Grounds Mukono in the second quarter final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The two sides play in the Elgon group where Wakiso Giants are the runaway leaders with 32 points and Kyetume FC second on 26 points.

To qualify for the quarter finals, Kyetume FC edged fellow big league side Kitara FC at Kigaya Grounds courtesy of Robert Sentongo’s goal.

Wakiso Giants eliminated top flight side Tooro United at Bugembe Stadium in spot kicks 4-2 after normal play ending in a barren stalemate.

Robert Ssentongo, Vincent Kayizzi and Owen Kasule will be the men to watch for Kyetume whereas a star studded Wakiso Giants will look to the experience of Feni Ali, Yasin Mugabi, Karim Ndugwa, Hassan Wasswa and Yasin Mugume for inspiration.

Normin Ogik is ruled out of this tie as Hakim Ssenkumba and Ayub Kisalita remain doubtful after recovering from minor knocks.

Despite promotion being his main objective, Kirya the man at the helm of Wakiso Giants admits that it will be a major bonus if his team go far in this tournament.

” Although our main target is winning theleague, we are also going to give a lot of attention to this game since our aim is to go as far as possible in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.”

The game kicks off at 3:00pm to provide room for extra time in case normal time ends in stalemate.

The winner will join Bright Stars who already made it through to the semi finals after eliminating Nebbi Central 1-0 courtesy of Brian Kayanja’s goal.
