BIG LEAGUE: Proline run riot, Wakiso Giants maintain six-point lead


Table leaders Proline FC and Wakiso Giants maintained their lead in the Rwenzori and Elgon pool respectively.

Proline drubbed Kira United 5-0 at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo to stretch their tally to 33 points from 15 games.

Hakim Kiwanuka scored a quick brace before skipper Noordin Bunjo made it 3-0 while heading into the mandatory halftime break.

Bright Anukani made it 4-0 moments into the second period before Ivan Bogere put the icing on the cake with his ninth goal of the season.

Third placed Kansai Plascon missed out on a chance to go second after falling 2-0 to Kabale Sharp at the Kabale municipal ground.

Dickson Niwamanya and Bosco Kyakuwa scored for the Vialli Bainomugisha coached side who remained sixth on the Rwenzori with 21 points.

Water FC edged Kireka United 1-0 at Namboole while Ntinda United beat Bumate United 2-1 in a bottom of table encounter at Lugogo courtesy of goals from Muhammad Kyeyune and Faizol Kalule.

Wakiso Giants maintained their six point lead at the top

In the top of Elgon table clash at Bugembe stadium, Wakiso Giants and Kyetume played out a goalless draw.

The result ensured Wakiso Giants maintain their six-point lead on the summit.

Second placed Kyetume have accumulated 27 points and are now level on points with third placed Doves All Stars who picked a hard drilled 2-1 over JMC Hippos in Jinja.

Moses Aliro and Rashid Kawawa Olu were on target for the Aziz Damani sponsored charges who are also coached by Anthony Bongole.

Army-side UPDF FC earned a slim 1-0 win over Bukedea Town Council at the Emokori grounds in Bukedea.

In Lira, Amuka Bright Stars managed a consecutive win after defeating Entebbe FC 1-0 thanks to Dennis Omedi’s fifth minute strike.

Amuka are now sixth on the table with 20 points, four clear of the drop zone.

Kataka FC aggravated Nebbi Central’s woes with a 2-1 defeat thanks to Nasuru Nandala. The result was Kataka’s first win at their home ground Sansiro Mbale.

Nebbi Central stay on the base of the Elgon table with only 11 points while Kataka is a place above the West Nile club.

The second tier league will resume on Saturday with Kitara locking horns with rivals Kiboga Young at the Kigaya grounds in Hoima.
