“The two clubs agreed and the player signed a 5-year contract. He is expected to fly out soon,” a source told Kawowo Sports

The lanky striker caught the attention of various clubs with his outstanding performance during the AFCON U-20 tournament in Mauritania three months ago.

Kakooza emerged as the top scorer of the tournament with five goals from six games including a stunning hat trick against Tunisia in the semi finals.

The former St. Mary’s Kitende student started his career with Naguru Police Academy before joining Police’s Junior Team The Armless Brigades.

He graduated to the Police FC senior team last season.

Another Uganda Hippos player Bobosi Byaruhanga, a central midfielder, is also expected to join Belgian side KRC Genk from Vipers SC with negotiations already underway between the two clubs.

Anderlecht SC, coached by former Manchester City and Belgium captain Vincent Kompany, are the most successful team in Belgium.

Anderlecht have won 34 league titles but finished fourth last season. They will feature in the inaugural Europa Conference League next season.
