Ffumbe edged Ngeye with a 3-0 victory in the first leg of the round of 16 played today evening at Wankulukuku stadium. Ffumbe was inspired by skipper Kasolo Mustapha who bagged a brace. Kasolo opened up the scoring in the 11th and double Ffumbe’s lead in the 68th minutes. Substitute Ssekasi Newton sealed it in the 89th minute tripling the scoreline
A delighted Ffumbe coach Kaweesa Eddie said after the match that,
“It has been a great game for us but we can’t go complacent thinking that Ngeye is a weak team. The boys played very well but we expect changes in the team that played today because Ffumbe clan is blessed with very many good players. We expect Derrick Nsibambi in the return leg who is currently on national duty but Ivan Ntege is to be missed this season. “
Ngeye captain Ssenfuka Patrick expressed his hope to bounce back in a transformed form. Senfuka says
“We played our part but we failed to utilise our chances yet our opponents used them flawlessly and they seemed more organised that’s why they got the results. We are going back to organise our selves and comeback stronger and better. I expect us to make it to the next round.”
Both teams will face off in the return leg slated for next week on Tuesday 22nd August 2017 at 2:00pm at the same venue.
Earlier on, Farouk Musisi’s lone strike from a direct corner kick earned a 1-0 win for Mmamba Gabunga over Mmamba Kakoboza in a tie dubbed as the “Mmamba Derby”
