The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) has confirmed that the Silverbacks will not be taking part in the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers first window later this month.
FUBA confirmed the development in a statement that was signed by its President Nasser Sserunjogi on Tuesday.
“FUBA on a very sad note wishes to inform you that the Senior Men’s National Basketball team will not compete at the FIBA World Qualifiers Benguela (Angola) from 26-28 November.”
“FUBA was informed Government of Uganda, through the National Council of Sports (NCS) that there was no money to support the team for this particular campaign. The team needed approximately She 380m to make this trip.”
Uganda were grouped in a group that has Nigeria, Mali and Cape Verde and a locally based team kick started training on November 15 at Africa ln Bible University in Lubowa.
