Badminton: Seven flagged off for Junior Championship in Benin

The Uganda Badminton Federation has flagged off the Uganda U19 team to Benin for the All Africa Junior Championship.

The team was flagged off at Sharing, Nsambya on Saturday at a function that was graced by the Uganda Badminton Federation Chairman Annet Nakamya and CEO Simon Mugabi.

Nakamya believes that the competition will help the players get exposed and elevate them to the senior team

“Our players have prepared well for the last one and half month. I have seen them in training and they are very ready to go out and compete. This tournament will help elevate our players to the senior team. It will also help in exposing them so I expect the best.”

The competition will kick off on 26th August to 1st September and will comprise of countries such as Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa among others.

Team Uganda will depart for Benin on Sunday, 22nd August and will be under the stewardship of Ronald Lule.

The seven players are;

Emudu Expeditor (Captain), Makande Paul, Nalowoza Tracy, Fadilah Shamikah, Guna Kusal, Abedi Musa Bukenya and Ssempiri Abdul
