Awany stripped of KCCA captaincy

KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi has announced that custodian Charles Lukwago will be the new club captain for the 2019/2020 season.

Lukwago will replace Timothy Denis Awany and will be assisted by Julius Poloto and Mustafa Kizza.

Mutebi confirmed this at the club’s congratulatory party and awards ceremony which was held at StarTimes Stadium on Tuesday 14th May. The tactician emphasized that the club skipper should be exemplary and disciplined both on and off the pitch.

“We have made a thorough research and I can confirm that next season, Charles Lukwago will be our captain and will be assisted by Julius Poloto and Mustafa Kizza. KCCA FC skipper has to be exemplary and disciplined both on and off the pitch and we considered this in naming our new leaders next season.

At the same function the acting KCCA executive director Andrew Kitaka confirmed that they are to expand the club’s Stadium

“We are to expand our stadium to see that we yield more revenues to the club. We also need to have a gym near the stadium and I can assure everyone that we are fully behind every development at the club.”

The Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago who was also in attendance assured the fans that they will have a budget of one billion Ugandan shillings each year go to the renovations of the stadium and other developments at the club

On the glamorous night, Timothy Denis Awany was named the club MVP of the season and the fans players of the year.

In the other awards, Mustafa Kizza was named the Jimmy Kirunda player’s player of the year, Patrick Kaddu who netted 17 goals across all competition was the club’s top scorer.

Youngster Ibrahim Juma was named the Jackson Mayanja young player of the year and Charles Lukwago as the Tom Lwanga most disciplined player of the year. Each received a token of appreciation from MTN Uganda.
