On Thursday 15th February, the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo will see defending champions KCCA FC entertaining arch rivals SC Villa in a top of table encounter that can be a title determinant.

SC Villa lead the AUPL table with 33 points from 16 games played while KCCA FC are currently 3rd with 29 points garnered from 15 matches, a difference of 4 points separate the two sides which makes the duel more cutthroat.

The tie will also be a battle between the highest scorers and the meanest defence in the league. KCCA FC have scored 28 goals, a number more than any team’s while SC Villa on the other hand have only conceded 6 goals.

KCCA FC who are on a return from continental engagements in Madagascar, will be playing their first game of the second round unlike SC Villa who shared spoils with Maroons in a goalless draw on Saturday in Masaka.

The previous 15 encounters between the two sides has witnessed 5 wins for the Kasasiro boys, 2 wins for SC Villa and 8 draws.

KCCA has won 6 of their 8 games played at home while SC Villa has only managed to register 2 wins on the road, losing once and drawing 4 others.

SC Villa will be targeting a double over KCCA FC having won the first round encounter 2-1 in Masaka courtesy of goals from Allan Kyambadde and Martin Kizza in the 4th and 85th minutes respectively. Timothy Awany scored for KCCA.

Wasswa Bbosa, the SC Villa tactician has disdained the magnitude of the game claiming it’s like any other game.

He says,

“Tomorrow is game is not that special. We have prepared our team in the similar way we have always did prior to the other league games. All games weigh 3 points so I don’t want my players to be pressurized.”

“But of course, SC Villa fans should come expecting 3 points.”

Bossa added.

KCCA will be without injured play maker Muzamir Mutyaba, striker Patrick Kaddu and Julius Poloto are also doubtful but Jackson Nunda is expected to make a return.

First round meeting winner Martin Kizza will miss out for SC Villa due to suspension following accumulated bookings. The rest of the squad players are available for selection.

The visitors have the ball in their hands to stretch their lead at the table summit to 4 points clear whereas Mike Mutebi’s coached men aim at reducing Villa’s lead to 1 point with a game less.
