Masavu FC got off the base of the table after shocking Express with a 2-1 win at Wankulukuku handing the Red Eagles their 5 defeat of the campaign.
Goals from Abraham Ndugwa and Ddumba Sadala were enough to secure Masavu’s second win of the season but also intensifying Express’ poor run.
Skipper Abraham Ndugwa led by example when he put the visitors in a lead slotting in a lose ball from an Express defensive lapse in the 20th minute.
Express fought back in search for a leveller but could not make use of the clear chances created towards the half time break with Jose Maria Lubega being the notable culprit.
Come second half, Douglas Bamweyana introduced Mubarak Nsubuga for the unproductive Steven Bengo in the 49th minute to exert more pressure on the opponents defence.
The change nearly paid off when Nsubuga swiftly penetrated through the Masavu to set for Jose Maria Lubega who wasted what looked to be the golden chance of the evening.
It was Mansoor Mutumba the Masavu who was at guard once again to make a match defining save to deny his former pay masters an equaliser.
Ddumba Sadala then punished Express for their bluntness when he flawlessly finished off an Ivan Lubale counter attack to stretch the lead for Masavu with 18 minutes to normal time.
Four minutes later, Daniel Muzeyi Serunkuma pulled one back for the home side striking home from close range after a successful Express interplay inside the Masavu box.
Express pushed harder for an equaliser but the visitors were not willing to give in. Brian Nsubuga and Ibrahim Pengere well marshalled the defence.
Substitute Robert Sentongo Junior almost made it 3-1 from another counter attack but wastefully blasted the ball over the bar with only the keeper to beat in the dying minutes.
The win propels Masavu from the base of the table to the 15th position with 7 points whereas Express remains 14th with only a point above Masavu.
Express will visit Proline in their subsequent fixture while Masavu will play hosts to BUL FC in Bugonga on Saturday 18th.
