Masavu FC hosts Kirinnya Jinja SS at Bugonga Fisheries Institute as Azam Uganda premier league returns after the international break.

This will be the first encounter between the two sides in the top flight but have met before on two occasions in the FUFA Big League 2015-16 season where Masavu won the first meeting 3-2 and Kirinya Jinja SS made amends with a slim 1-0 victory in the second leg in Jinja.

Kirinya JSS comes in this fixture without first choice goalkeeper Tom Ikara and Ibrahim Kayiwa who sustained injuries in the Cranes test match against the Northern region in Lira. These join Allan Drajua, Bashir Mutanda and Mustapha Mugoya who have been ruled out since the season kicked off.

However head coach Charles Ayiekoh has ruled out worries about the injuries and rather focuses on rectifying his club’s recent mistakes.

He says,

“Missing our players due to injuries is a big blow to us but we have good replacements. We are going to avoid the mistakes that we made as we played Bright Stars. We are going to play an attacking game and once we score we won’t allow any ball in our net.”

Goalkeeper Ikara who suffered a shoulder injury after an awkward landing in Lira, will be replaced by his immediate understudy Opoka Atiino Austine.

On the other hand, Masavu FC coach, Joseph Mutyaba is expectant that team work will produce 3 points.

Mutyaba says,

Apart from the injured 3 players, all our players are fit and available for selection. We are settling for nothing less than a win. We are going to iron out the defensive mistakes that cost us in our previous match against Vipers and above all efficient team work will give us 3 points tomorrow.”

Masavu FC will be without the services of midfielder Sadala Ddumba, leftback Lawrence Bakilanze and attacker Peter Lomolo.

Both teams come in this tie after loosing their respective last games. Masavu FC lost 2-0 to Vipers at home as Kirinya Jinja SS was defeated by Bright Stars 2-1 at Mwererwe.

The hosts lie 15th with three points on the Azam Uganda premier league table while Kirinya Jinja SS lies 8th with 5 points from four matches.
