Last year’s 42Km marathon winner in the men’s category, Sammy Kipngetich from Kenya is optimistic ahead of the 2018 edition that he will defend his the title.
The Kenyan also expects a competitive race and wished all the participants the best of luck in the MTN Marathon slated for Sunday 25th, November 2018.

“I am very ready to compete and try to win again the 42km marathon this year. I know it won’t be easy but I am very focused ahead the race.”
It’s always a great honour for me when I come to run here in Uganda because we are brothers and sisters. I won’t feel bad if a Ugandan takes the day because it’s a competition and I wish every participant a great marathon.” Said the 2017 MTN Marathon champion.
Fellow Kenyan and last year’s 42 Km winner in women category Rael Kimaiyo Kurgat has also confirmed participation in the 2018 edition. Both champions will be competing against a contingent of over 300 other elite runners from across the region and Uganda.
The Athletes will compete in the following races, 42Km, 21Km and the 10Km road races and over 20,000 participants are expected to compete.
