Mbarara City FC are in a routine search for another head coach as Charles Livingstone Mbabazi nears a switch to newly promoted Arua Hill SC.

Swift Sports has learnt that Mbabazi has already bode farewell to some of his friends at Mbarara City amidst the links to join Arua Hill.

Mbabazi rejoined Mbarara City in March this year with an immediate task of guiding the club to safety in the Uganda Premier League.

He turned things around when Mbarara City were struggling and ensured they survived relegation by finishing 7th with 38 points when the league was prematurely ended due to Covid-19.

Arua Hill are expected to name Mbabazi as their new coach given the strong relationship between him and some of the club officials whom he worked with while at Onduparaka.

The Arua based club were under the tutelage of coach Hussein Mbalangu as they gained promotion to the topflight unbeaten. They topped the Elgon Group table with 30 points and secured a direct promotion.

Arua Hill will be hoping to follow in Onduparaka’s footsteps by hiring Mbabazi in their debut season. Mbabazi has also coached at Wakiso Giants and Kyetume and acts as the current assistant coach of the Uganda Cranes.

He remains the most successful coach in Mbarara City’s history having guided them to their best ever finish (5th in the 2018-19).

Richard Makumbi, Vialli Bainomugisha, Sam Kawalya, Ibrahim Kirya, Baker Kasule, Brian Ssenyondo, Paul Nkata and Sadick Ssempigi are other coaches that have been in the Mbarara City dugout since the club’s promotion to the top tier in 2017.
