Another gold for Uganda as Chesang stars in Commonwealth games

Chesanga won gold in the women’s 10,000m

Uganda’s Stella Chesang claimed gold in the women’s 10,000 metres race final in the on going Commonwealth games at Carrara Stadium in Australia.

Chesang timed 31:45:30 to beat Kenya’s Stacy Ndiwa who was 2nd with a PB of 31:4:36. Fellow Ugandan Mercyline Chelangat finished third in 31:48:41 to secure bronze.

Chesang a Police officer also won the 2015 world mountain running Championships and 2016 Uganda Cross country.

The 21 year old joins Joshua Cheptegei who won gold in the men’s 5000m in the ongoing Gold Coast, Australia Commonwealth games.

Her name also joins list of fellow Ugandans who have won gold at the Commonwealth games like Dorcus Inzikuru, Boniface Kiprop and Moses Kipsiro who have won 3 gold at two different occasions in different races.
