Former West Ham striker Diafra Sakho has joined Djibouti Premier League side AS Arta Solar 7 on an undisclosed contract.
Sakho joins former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song and Cameroonian defender Dan Nounkeu who joined the Djibouti champions last year.
Welcome to the AS Arta Solar family, bro,”
Song wrote on his Instagram.
Sakho last featured for Switzerland second tier club Neuchatel Xamax last year and has been a free agent since then.
The Senegalese forward has in the past had stints in France and Turkey with Metz, Rennes and Bursaspor. He played for West Ham United between 2014 – 2018.
Sakho, 31, represented Senegal at the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament held in Russia.
Swift Sports sources in Djibouti reveal that Song has in the past months been persuading Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou and Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni to join Arta Solar 7.
Kalou, 35, is a free agent since last month after leaving Brazil side Botafogo while 37 year old Kameni has been unattached since leaving Fenerbahce in 2019.
Arta Solar 7 is a home to former URA and SC Villa goalkeeper Sulait Luyima who is currently the club’s first choice custodian.
They will represent Djibouti in next season’s CAF Champions League after winning the 2020/21 Djibouti League.
