Amuria, Ajax Queens seal places in FUFA Women Elite League quarter finals

Amuria High School and Ajax Queens qualified for the quarter finals of the FUFA Women Elite League as Group C climaxed on Sunday at Njeru.

Ajax Queens obliterated St Peter’s Apoi Girls 5-1 to finish second behind Amuria High School who edged Vision WFC 1-0.

Ajax Queens’ Annet Namwenge became the second player to score a hat trick in this campaign and took her tally to four goals.

Moureen Nangozi scored one goal before Naome Awol sealed the day by guiding Patricia Akiror’s corner kick into her own net.

St. Peter’s Apoi had surprisingly taken an early lead through Shamulat Unija in the 15 minute before Namwenge tied the encounter at the stroke of half-time.

St. Peter’s from Apac district, conceded 18 goals and scored two in three games as they finished bottom of the table without a point.

Amuria High School topped the group with maximum points having managed to beat all their opponents. They beat Ajax Queens 3-2 and obliterated St. Peter’s Apoi 8-1.

Their final game required a late goal from Lukia Aringo to edge Vision who also had a chance of qualifying coming into the final game.

The FUFA Women Elite League will continue on Tuesday with Group D which has Wakiso Hill, She Maroons, Echoes High School and Lango Queens.
