Uganda Cranes left back Alex Kakuba has joined Portuguese fourth tier side Club Louletano Desportos Futebol.

Kakuba joins Louletano DC after his initial two year contract with CD Cova Piedade expired at the end of last season.

Kakuba helped CD Cova Piedade survive relegation last season but the club was eventually demoted from the Portuguese second tier after failing to provide financial documents ahead of the current season.

The former Proline left back will be marking 10 years in Portuguese football having left Uganda about a decade ago.

He has previously played for Estoril Praia and CD Feirense in the topflight, Sporting Covilha, Esperancà de Lagos and Agueda in the lower divisions.

Kakuba has also featured for Greek side PAS Giannina and Albania’s Lori Vanadzor.

He has played for the Uganda Cranes on three occasions since making his debut in 2015.

His new club Louletano DC will be vying for promotion to the newly made third tier which is known as Liga 3.

Louletano DC was founded in 1923. It’s based in the municipality of Loulé in Algarve and host league games at the Estadio Algarve.
