Ajax Queens unveil squad for the 2017/18 season of the FUFA Elite Women league

Ajax Queens Women’s Football Club have on Saturday unveiled the squad that will be used in the 2017/18 Fufa Women elite league.

With the league barely a week away from getting underway, Ajax Queens have shown their intent of ably competing.

In a function held at club’s new home ground( Buddo SS), Club CEO, Charles Lwanga Kayemba indicated the squad assembled will be able to compete and challenge for trophies this season.

” We have assembled a strong squad that I believe will yield results and challenge for trophies in the coming season,” he said.

The Bulenga based side unveiled eight new players that have been brought to bolster the squad ahead of the new season.

Gloria Ayikol, Gertrude Likicho and Margaret Nalubega all join Ajax Queens from reigning schools’ champions Mukono High School.

Ayikol and Likicho played at Isra Women’s football club last season in the Kampala regional league and helped them win promotion to the elite league.

Nalubega on the other hand has been promoted from Ajax Queens junior team.

The other new signings include Phiona Nabumba(from Rinnes FC), Moureen Nangozi, Pamela Nakayondo(returns from Uganda Martyrs High School Mukono) and the Kenyan duo of Engesha Terry and Wambui Elizabeth from Mathare United and Thika Queens respectively.

At the same function, the club also unveiled the new coaching staff with Michael Natima as head coach and John Ssemuli as his assistant.

Natima has vast experience in women’s football with a CAF C license while Ssemuli has been the brain behind Mukono High School’s success this year.
