A late goal from Mbarara City’s Makweth Wol ensured that minnows eliminate the Kobs at the Juba Stadium in South Sudan.

The first leg had ended 1-0 in Uganda’s favour last week at Lugogo and the Wasswa Bbosa coached team needed any positive result from Juba to advance to the next round.

Micheal Taku Peter put the home side in the lead in the 24th minute from a clumsy Said Keni howler to tie the contest on a 1-1 aggregate.

Wasswa Bbosa who had named the same line up that started in the first leg at Lugogo, brought on Duncan Seninde for Joel Madondo at the start of the second period.

Bbosa later withdrew Allan Okello for SC Villa’s Joseph Semujju in pursuit for a goal inside the last quarter of the game.

With the game destined for a penalty shoot out, Makweth Wol doubled the lead for the hosts and ultimately won them a slot in the next round.

South Sudan will now take on Tunisia U23 in the final qualification round.
