AFCON 2021: Boufal strikes late as Morocco overcome Ghana

Sinan RAJUB SENOGA

Morocco 1-0 Ghana

Sofiane Boufal scored a late winning goal for Morocco as they overcame Ghana in a Group C encounter at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde.

Boufal capitalized on a lose ball inside the box to smash the ball into the net in the 83rd minute and ultimately settled the encounter which was destined for a barren stalemate.

Prior to the winning goal, Ghana had a glorious opportunity to break the deadlock through Joseph Paintsil whose goal bound shot was brilliantly parried out for a corner by goalkeeper Yacine Bono in the 73rd minute.

The game had very few goal scoring opportunities with both sides cautious not to concede until the final closing 15 minutes.

Morocco will face Comoros in the next game on Friday 14th while Ghana will take on Gabon on the same day.
