AFCON 2019: Uganda Cranes embark on preparations with residential camp

Uganda Cranes kicked off preparations for the forthcoming AFCON on Monday with a residential camp at the Kabira Country Club, Bukoto.

19 players from the provisional squad are part of the residential camp that will take a period of two weeks.

There were two changes from the initially summoned squad where Disan Galiwango (Express FC) and Vipers’ Dan Serunkuuma replaced Brian Majwega and Joel Madondo respectively.

Madondo is currently undergoing trials at Turkish second tier club Ümraniyespor while Majwega was dropped citing disciplinary issues with the federation.

The Cranes will play two practice games on Thursday 23rd May – one against the COSAFA bound Cranes and the second one on 25th May with opponents not yet disclosed.

Sebastian Desabre will then name a group of 26 players on 21st May who will camp in Abu Dhabi.

The 26 will thereafter be trimmed to 23 who will compose the final squad to Egypt for the final tournament.

Uganda will play two friendly games one of which will be against Ivory Coast on 15th June before connecting to Cairo.
