AFCON 2019: Baxter announces Bafana Bafana’s squad

Bafana Bafana head coach Stewart Baxter has named South Africa’s 30-man provisonal squad ahead of the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The squad will be trimmed to the required number of 23 before being submitted 10 days to the tournament kick off.

Orlando Pirates' central midfielder Ben Motshwari is the biggest surprise inclusion having featured in none of the qualification games but had a fine form on club level.

Joel Unteresee and Nikola Tavares have been included in the squad but will have to wait for proper documentation before the tournament starts.

South Africa whose only triumph came in 1996, are pitted in Group D alongside Morocco, Ivory Coast and Namibia.
