Uganda Cranes contingent left Kabira Country Club for Abu Dhabi for a three-week residential camp ahead of the African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.

14 players flew out of the country on Monday morning.

These are; Denis Masinde Onyango, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Joseph Benson Ochaya, Timothy Denis Awanyi, Godfrey Walusimbi, Patrick Henry Kaddu, Bevis Mugabi, Isaac Muleme, Khalid Aucho, Taddeo Lwanga, Allan Kyambadde, Ibrahim Sadam Juma, Moses Waiswa and Murushid Jjuuko.

15 more players will fly to Abu Dhabi to join the group that started its journey from Kampala.

While in Abu Dhabi, Uganda will play two friendly matches one against Ivory Coast and another against opponents not yet revealed.

Skipper and shot stopper Denis Onyango believes the camp in Abu Dhabi is meant to help the team acclimatize with the weather.

” Traveling to Abu Dhabi is another step for us to acclimatize with the weather which we believe is almost the same with the one in Cairo. We are looking forward to the camp and meeting up with the other guys who are joining us from their clubs. ” Onyango says

” We have started our journey towards the AFCON but the team looks in shape. The two weeks they’ve been in camp, I think they have been working on the fitness levels.”

The Cranes will be making their seventh appearance at the prestigious continental tournament.

They are pitted in Group A alongside hosts Egypt, neighbors DR Congo and Zimbabwe.
