AFC Leopards appoint Argentinian tactician

Kenyan giants AFC Leopards have signed Rodolfo Zapata as the new head coach. Zapata will be the next coach for Ugandan midfielder Baker Lukooya.

Zapata will replace Denis Kitambi who will reportedly leave the club to join his former boss John Stewart Hall as an assistant at Bangladesh club Saif sporting club.

Zapata has a vast experience in African football. He has previously coached at, Nigerian Sunshine stars, South Africa’s Black Aces, and Botswana’s Gaborone United FC.

Zapata is a retired goalkeeper who turned up for various Argentine clubs including Huracan, Sportivo Italiano, Racing De Olavarria, club Atletico San Miguel and Cipoletti De Rio Negro all in the second division before he was forced into early retirement after he suffered consecutive knee injuries.

Zapata finds the Leopards in the 3rd position on the table of 18 teams with 18 points after playing 10 games. They sit behind Mathare United and Gor Mahia respectively.

AFC Leopards is former home to ugandans Yakub Ramathan(currently in Zambia) and Allan Kateregga (currently in South Africa).
